IN THE U.S. WE DON'T DO HONOR KILLINGS

Postscript: Noor died on November 2nd, after never regaining consciousness.
As for me, the phrase "honor killing" has been removed from my lexicon permanently. This was murder.

ARIZONA REPUBLIC NEWSPAPER HEADLINE:

Lifestyle
may have put woman in the hospital

Noor (20) Almaleki's father ran over her at a welfare office. She was rushed to a trauma center and is now hanging on for dear life. Her father is a fugitive from the law now, and the injuries he inflicted on her may yet kill her.

But that's not what the Arizona Republic newspaper reported. THIS is what they reported:

"The 20-year-old had pages on Facebook and MySpace. She had lots of friends. She posted details about her 5-foot-3 frame, along with an alluring photo, on a Web site for aspiring models and actresses. She lived with her boyfriend and his mother.
(The harlot! Let's put a big red Letter A on her.)

That
lifestyle, police say, landed her in a Valley trauma center Tuesday afternoon, unconscious and bleeding, and sent her father, Faleh Hassan Almaleki, on the run. It may yet kill her."

Her lifestyle ran over her, and then sent her father on the run, and may yet kill her.

Is it not the coroner in Baghdad's Institute of Forensic Medicine who writes: "killed to wash away her disgrace" as a cause of death on an autopsy report?

This sounds like something I'd read in a newspaper in a country that adheres to Sharia law, yet it was printed in my LOCAL newspaper.

I'm stupefied.

So-called "honor" killings have got to be the last word in selfish, it's-all-about-me hogwash. And for an Anerican newspaper to state that her LIFESTYLE did all this, is dumbfounding. Gee, let's play Blame The Victim!

OMG. I'm stupefied too. That's CRAZY!! Reporting has gone so far south, I get frustrated reading and listening to it these days.

I apologize Pheromone Girl for blogger deleting your comment without my knowledge or consent.

That makes me want to throw up. What the fuck?! "Lifestyle"? Her father is a homicidal nut and she gets blamed? Tell us where we can write letters of protest, please!!

There's a court case going on right now in Britain about the same thing; and remember the girl who was stoned to death and it appeared on Youtube?

Animals. Worse, savages....should be shot.

Can we?!

Would love to know, FOR SURE, if the Koran actually condones this behavior... or it's just another interpetation.

I would call the men who take part in such acts as pathetic losers with self esteem issues, if the consequences were not so appalling.

We have an onour killing, sorry, murder trial taking place in London as I write

that is indeed quite mind-boggling on so many levels.

I went over to the Arizona Republic's website to leave a comment, but they have no place for that. So I had to settle for putting it out on Twitter to express my disgust.

You are telling me that was in our very own country? And they reported it like that? Unbelievable. I am flabbergasted.

Boston Maggie: You're right! The cowardly newspaper was afraid to open this one up for comment apparently.

This makes me want to vomit...seriously! We should write a letter (I nominate Fireblossom) and we'll all sign it and send it off with cc to the father (wherever he is) with a nice little (ticking) enclosure.

That's outrageous. Words have power and they way they chose to report the story clearly blams the girl. The writer and editor should both lose their jobs.
